Two teams from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at BSRM School of Engineering, BRAC University, recently excelled in the Unibator program, showcasing their innovation and dedication. The Unibator program is supported by various organizations including the University Innovation Hub Program, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park, ICT Division, and Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development (DEIED), with backing from the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) BRAC University and funding from The World Bank.
Team BRACU-Alter, an autonomous rescue rover team from LASEET (Laboratory of Space System Engineering and Technology), secured the 2nd position in the University Innovation Hub Program. This dedicated team, consisting of Mehedi Hasan, Farah Hasan Priti, Shahriar Ahmed Durjoy, and Mehedi Hassan, was awarded funding of 60,000 BDT for their project. Their advisors, Lecturer Abdulla Hil Kafi and Raihana Shams Islam Antara, guided the team's success. Recently, Team BRACU-Alter qualified for the final round of the RoboCup Rescue Robot League 2024, an international robotics competition.
Another team, Dipto, a STEAM Kit team from LASEET, demonstrated outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the Unibator Program. The team, consisting of Nahid Ahmed Shihab, Md. Mountashiour Rahman, Prapty Majumdar Golpa, Farhan Noor Showrov, and Muntaha Majed Chowdhury earned one of the five grants out of twelve competing teams, securing 40,000 BDT from the same program as BRACU-Alter. Their user-friendly, do-it-yourself STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) kit empowers students and hobbyists alike to learn about building satellites, robots, and gadgets, covering everything from circuits to coding.
The teams' achievements were made possible through a joint effort led by the University Innovation Hub Program, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park, ICT Division, and DEIED. Supported by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) at BRAC University and funded by The World Bank, this initiative aims to foster innovation among university students nationwide. As part of this initiative, the Unibator program helps students transform their innovative ideas into successful startups.
Both Team BRACU-Alter and Dipto achievements highlight the university's commitment to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and technological excellence. These successes inspire the entire university community to strive for excellence in innovation and technology.
