Prof. Khan attended the Editorial Board meeting of IEEE Access in New York City. The daylong meeting on 20th October at the Westin Hotel at Times Square discussed various issues related to the IEEEAccess (ieeeaccess.ieee.org), the open access multidisciplinary journal of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., USA. Prof. Khan recently became “Life IEEE Senior Member”. Then he visited Georgia Institute of Technology at Atlanta, USA. Professor Khan visited Georgia Tech during the week of October 22, 2018. On Monday, October 22, 2018, he met and exchanged ideas with Prof. Lukas Graber of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Georgia Tech, who is a world leader on plasma and dielectrics for power engineering applications. Prof. Khan visited Prof. Graber's lab at the National Electric Energy Testing Research and Applications Center (NEETRAC) site. Several students of Prof. Graber made presentations on their research on gaseous cryogens and SF6 replacement gases, ultra-fast disconnect switches, cryogenic switch-gears and power electronics. On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, Prof. Khan visited the Marcus cleanroom facility at the Institute of Electronics and Nanotechnology at Georgia Tech. The Georgia Tech cleanroom is one of the top academic cleanrooms in the world that boasts a total $400 million of shared user equipment and expert staff support, 225,000 sq. ft. of floor space and supports cutting-edge research in nanotechnology, health care and electronics. Profs. Asif Khan and Azadeh Ansari guided the tour inside the class-100 cleanroom.
