The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has for the first time organized “CSE Research Day, Spring 2025” at BRAC University on 28 February 2025.
The observance of the day was aimed at highlighting how computing offers a vast research frontier for advances in theory, systems, and applications, which can go on to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges. Computer science research primarily involves designing new algorithms, creating innovative software or hardware, analyzing data, or exploring emerging technologies.
Throughout the day, over 1,200 students engaged with faculty members and guest speakers through seminars to gain insights into thesis, project, and internship journeys across various fields of computer science, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity and quantum computing.
Moreover, experts from industry and academia provided recommendations to students on preparing for the transition from university to professional careers. The experts included Mafer Bencomo Arevalo, social impact associate at DataCamp, which is an online learning platform focusing on working with data and AI in the real world.
Arevalo led an insightful session on how students can leverage DataCamp’s resources to excel in data science and AI.
Moreover, the CSE department recognized the top theses of the past three semesters by presenting certificates to their authors. The research papers were also showcased to inspire the next generation of researchers.
