Dr. Shah M. Faruquehas joined the BRACU as a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the coordinator of Life Sciences programs (Microbiology and Biotechnology). He was the director of the Genomics Centre at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), and formerly director of the Centre for Food and Water Borne Diseases. Prof Faruque has maintained an active research team in Life Sciences for over two decades, and conducted cutting edge research in collaboration with world-renown institutions and leading scientists in the field.
Prof. Faruque has authored numerous original research papers, reviews, and book chapters, and has edited a number of text books. His works have been published in top ranking international journals, including Lancet, PNAS and Nature. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to research, he was awarded the TWAS Prize-2005 in Medical Sciences. ProfFaruque is an elected Fellow of TWAS, the World Academy of Sciences, as well as a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences.
