The TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services, organized a seminar on “Social compliance in Trade: status quo, credibility, challenges & solutions to Bangladesh Industry” on 6th of March, 2019 at Six Seasons Hotel in collaboration with WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production). The seminar has provided a platform for exchange of stakeholders’ expectations and sharing best practices in the implementation of social compliance requirement. Professor Shahidur Rahman was invited as a panel speaker in the seminar which has gathered representatives of brands, suppliers and accreditation partner directly involved in development of social compliance practices in Bangladesh. The other panel speakers were President and CEO of WRAP, Vice President of TUV Rheinland, Compliance Head of Palmal Group, GIZ representative and Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce & Industry Representative. As a panel speaker, Professor Shahidur Rahman has critically analysed the challenges of the existing audit system in the Bangladesh RMG and expected a collective action on social compliance by different stakeholders led by the government.
