An exhibition of two early Sultanate cities of Bangladesh was held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center from May 5 to 6, 2018. The exhibition titled ‘A TALE OF TWO CITIES & MORE: Islamic architecture of Bangladesh in a glimpse’ was curated by Mohammad Habib Reza, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, BRAC University. The exhibition aimed to give a glimpse of the vibrant Islamic architecture of Bangladesh to the country representatives of the 45th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC). The exhibition was initiated by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh with the support of the Aga Khan Development Network, Bangladesh.
This exhibition was a part of the larger presentation of Islamic heritage of Bangladesh and highlights few traceable religious structures of the two vibrant early Sultanate cities, Khalifatabad (present day Bagerhat) and Mohamamdabad (present day Barobazar of Jhineidah), through photographs and architectural drawings.
