Last week on Thursday (3PM to 5:30PM), 29th November 2018, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Media Signal and Image Processing (MSIP) research group organized a hands-on Workshop on Image/Video Processing using TensorFlow in CSE Research lab (UB71201). The workshop started at 3PM with an introductory speech of Dr. Jia Uddin, Associate Professor and coordinator of MSIP Research Group. Dr. Jia discussed the various areas of MSIP group with real life examples. Following this, Mirza Tanzim Sami, a final thesis candidate of MSIP group, CSE carried the workshop on the basics of TensorFlow. Mirza Tanzim Sami demonstrated the very basic setup of TensorFlow and introduced the students with the implementation of a simple Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The works were demonstrated using Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook and Python. This was done by executing simple commands written by Mr. Sami and the students followed his steps to get a practical overview of the implementation. Prof. Dr. Md. Mottalib, Chairperson, CSE, also joined the workshop midway and then gave a short speech where he expressed his joy seeing the presence of over 60 students filling up the lab. The workshop successfully ended at 5.30PM with a group photo.
