A “Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases and Nutrition” has been launched by the Brac James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) of Brac University (BracU) on 3 April 2019 with the aim to prevent and control no communicable diseases (NCDs) and malnutrition in Bangladesh.
Representatives of founding partner organisations signed a memorandum of understanding making the official launching at the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific in Dhaka.
BracU Vice Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang delivered the welcome speech as a guest of honour. Dr Malay Kanti Mridha, director of the new centre, gave a presentation titled “Overview on Center for Non-Communicable Diseases and Nutrition”.
The event’s chief guest, Professor Dr AHM Enayet Hussain, additional director general of health services (planning and development), Directorate General of Health Services, gave the concluding remarks.
Professor Zafar Ahmed Latif, director general, Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (Birdem), and Professor Faridul Alam, vice chancellor, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, were also present as guests of honour.
