The Department of Architecture at BRAC University arranged the first Lightning Talk of the Fall semester on 21st October, 2018 at the faculty meeting room. Lightning Talk is an information and research work sharing session which is a part of the staff development. The recent theme of the talk was 'Co-Create with Communities' presented by Khondaker Hasibul Kabir, Assistant Professor of the Department of Architecture, BRAC University. He shared experiences of the recent two initiatives by Co.Creation.Architects supported by Jhenaidah Municipality, POCAA, ALIVE and ACHR.
Jhenaidah Citywide Housing Process is a low-income community-led initiative and is one of the major initiatives where community people identified their housing problems and opportunities. Under the initiative, members of the community conducted community mapping and profiling activities and came up with their dream house solution. Mr. Kabir also talked about the recently implemented community engagement process of creating water network in Jhenaidah. The project involved everyone in the community who participated actively in the process to visualize their collective effort of saving and designing water bodies for the sustainable use of these resources.
