Students of MA TESOL and faculty members of BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), BRAC University presented papers and conducted workshops at the 10th BELTA (Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association) International Conference 2022 at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) premises on the 18th and 19th of November, 2022.
The following MA TESOL students presented their papers at the 10th BELTA International Conference 2022.
- Afroja Alam presented a paper entitled “Feminism and Transformational Leadership in ELT”.
- Dewan Jamilur Rahman presented his paper on “Transformational Leadership Shaping ESP Courses in Bangladesh”.
- Mati Haque Chowdhury presented a paper entitled “Link between Formative Assessment and Students’ Engagement”.
- Nazia Masood presented her paper entitled “Feedback Experience of Online Learning during COVID-19 Pandemic: Students’ Perspectives”.
- Nuzhat Tabassum presented a paper entitled “Perceptions of an ELT Leader regarding ELT leadership in Bangladesh”.
- Parveen Akter presented her paper entitled “Teacher as a Leader in EFL Classrooms in Bangladesh”.
An outstanding workshop entitled “Mediating Gamification Techniques to Meet English Curriculum Needs” was conducted by five MA TESOL students: Anindita Paul, Maisha Jahan, Shaikat Das, Tanvir Mehedi, and Kamrunnahar Sayma. Ms Mimi Marstaller, a visiting fellow of BIL, BRAC University, also conducted an exciting workshop on “Main Character Energy Part 2: Establishing the Identity of a Character”.
Along with MA TESOL students, the following faculty members of BRAC Institute of Language (BIL), BRAC University also presented their individual and joint papers at the same conference:
- Mahbubul Islam and Mohammad Aminul Islam of BIL, BRAC University presented their paper entitled “eMentoring in the Disrupted Academia during a pandemic” which has been selected for publication as a book chapter in one of the edited books on international higher education by Springer, Nature.
- Dr Qumrul Hasan Chowdhury, an assistant professor of Dhaka University and adjunct faculty of BIL, BRAC University presented a featured paper entitled “English for Development Discourse and a Locally Sustainable ELT”.
- Mohammad Aminul Islam of BIL, BRAC University, and Debashismoy Dutta, an assistant professor from Noakhali Science and Technology University, presented a paper jointly entitled “Sustainable ESP Ecology for Development: Inquiry through Stakeholders Interview”.
The vibrant presence and active participation of the MA TESOL students of BIL, BRAC University, in the 10th BELTA International Conference 2022 was highly appreciated by the ELT community at home and abroad.
