On Monday, 4th November 2024, around 300 first-year students joined an exciting Career Session titled "Classroom to Career: Goal Setting for a Successful Academic & Professional Life." This event, organized by the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations (OCSAR), aimed to help freshers prepare for their future careers.
The session opened with an inspiring message from Ms. Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life, who encouraged the students to make the most of their time at university. Following her, Dr. David Dowland, the registrar of BRAC University, took the stage and delivered an engaging speech that set a positive tone for the event.
Tasnim Zaman, a BRACU alumna and Manager of Employer Branding & Employee Experience at Robi Axiata PLC, shared her personal journey. She talked about how balancing part-time work with her studies helped her develop communication and management skills, as well as build important networking connections. Tasnim also emphasized how participating in various extracurricular activities and competitions enriched her experiences and contributed to her career success, inspiring many students to value their own involvement.
Musarrat Sarwar Chowdhury, Manager of People Development in Human Resources at Robi Axiata, shared her insights on skill development. She explained how participating in business competitions helped her grow her network and prepare for the professional world.
The students were very engaged throughout the session, asking lots of questions and participating in discussions. Their interest showed how much they wanted to learn and prepare for their futures.
As the event wrapped up, it was clear that the information shared would have a lasting impact. Students left feeling motivated to take charge of their education, make connections, and set goals for their careers.
