Volunteers made a significant difference in successfully organizing Brac University’s 13th Convocation, said President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang. In a certificate giving ceremony at BracU’s Savar Residential Campus on Friday (13 December, 2019) the volunteers were honored.
The volunteers’ effort gave him peace of mind at a time when Professor Chang was worried about the procedure of the event. He thanked the students for their contribution to make the event successful.
This year, the convocation had more than 9000 attendees, which included the Honorable President of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor Md. Abdul Hamid, along with two ministers. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, gave his first overseas commencement speech in this convocation, Professor Chang added, while describing the volunteers’ effort as ‘priceless’ at such a high profile event.
Professor Chang distributed certificates among the students, who served as volunteers in BracU’s 13th Convocation. In total, 400 students received the certificates as a token of appreciation from BracU.
A cultural program was held after the certificate giving ceremony. Patriotic songs were performed by Brac University Cultural Club to pay tribute to the heroes of our liberation war.
