On a vibrant afternoon of 16th May, the School of Pharmacy at BRAC University hosted its much-anticipated Alumni Meet at the university’s new campus. This grand reunion was a melting pot of nostalgia and inspiration, drawing alumni from various batches to reconnect and celebrate their shared journey.
The event started with the arrival of alumni, who were warmly greeted with hearty welcomes and cheerful faces. The excitement was palpable as old friends and classmates embraced, reminiscing about their time at the university.
The first activity of the day was a symbolic and thoughtful plantation ceremony in the medicinal plant garden. This act not only highlighted the significance of environmental sustainability but also reflected the school’s dedication to integrating practical knowledge with real-world applications. Alumni eagerly participated, planting a variety of medicinal plants that will serve as a living legacy for future students.
Following the plantation, alumni were taken on an extensive tour of the new campus and the School of Pharmacy facilities. This tour was a walk down memory lane for many, now enhanced with state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern amenities. The alumni marveled at the advancements and the university’s commitment to providing top-notch educational resources.
The highlight of the day was the program at the multipurpose hall, gracefully hosted by Namara Mariam Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer and Program Coordinator and Syeda Maliha Ahmed, Lecturer and an alumnus herself. The program was inaugurated with a heartfelt welcome speech by the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Eva Rahman Kabir. Her words resonated with pride and encouragement, celebrating the achievements of the alumni and the growth of the institution.
Following the Dean’s address, the Registrar, Dr. David Dowland welcomed and shared a few words with the alumni. Several esteemed faculty members also took the stage, sharing inspiring speeches that reignited the passion for pharmacy within the alumni. Their words were a testament to the enduring bond between the faculty and their students, reminding everyone of the foundational knowledge and values instilled during their time at BRAC University.
The program then opened the floor to the alumni, inviting them to share their views, stories, and highlights. This segment was particularly heartwarming as it allowed for a rich exchange of experiences and accomplishments, painting a vivid picture of the diverse paths taken by graduates. Adding an element of excitement, a lucky draw was held, much to the delight of the attendees. Eight fortunate winners were announced, each receiving prizes that added a fun twist to the evening.
The day concluded with a dinner, providing a perfect opportunity for further networking and bonding. The air was filled with laughter and animated conversations as alumni, faculty, and current students shared a meal, forging stronger connections within the community.
The program ended on a reflective note with closing remarks from the Assistant Dean and Program Director of the School of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Hasina Yasmin. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone present, emphasizing the importance of alumni in the continuous growth and success of the institution.
