Creating a theatrical ambience involving shadow play, dance and music, the sixth edition of “Bangla Gaaner Bhabna O Pothochola” on Sunday, 24 March 2019, brought to life Bangladesh’s history from the 1952 Language Movement to the 1971 Liberation War.
Brac University (BracU) aims to organise the program every semester, seeking to disseminate the essence of the heritage and legacy of Bangla songs among students.
The event this time was titled “Motherland, Soil and Songs of Independence”, presented by BracU Cultural Club under the auspices of the Office of Co-curricular Activities (OCA) under the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at BracU’s Mohakhali campus auditorium.
Students rendered classic numbers including “Moder Gorob Moder Asha”, “Ami Banglai Gaan Gai”, “Karar Oi Louho Kopat”, “Ma Go Bhabna Keno”, and “Mora Ekti Ful Ke Bachabo Bole Juddho Kori” while others cast shadows on a screen to a voice narrating historical incidents.
The event started off with a one minute’s silence paying homage to martyrs of the Language Movement and the Liberation War.
