A team [Team JHOR] consisting of faculty members from CSE department, Brac University and a grad student from Simon Fraser University, Canada have recently participated and got an Honorable Mention (Top 10) in the Ideas for Action Competition 2019, organized by the World Bank Group and the Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton School. The team consisted of following members - Mohshi Masnad, A.M. Esfar-E- Alam, Dewan Ziaul Karim & Md. Nafiz Hasan Khan. The team submitted a proposal regarding a sustainable solution of water pollution which is a significant danger to the general well-being in Bangladesh.
Team JHOR prevailed against more than 3,100 teams from 142 different countries and territories around the world. More than 10,000 students and young professionals participated in this year's competition.
The competition included three stages. After an intricate, three-stage review process, Team JHOR's proposal was selected for honorable mention. A final panel consisting of senior World Bank, Wharton, and private sector executives decided on the final ranking. The panel mentioned that their proposal maintained exceptional clarity, significance, creativity, and feasibility.
Soon, the proposal will be published in a book [by World Bank] along with other best proposal from this year's competition. The book launching ceremony will take place at the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, DC later this year.
