From 4th June to June 8th, 2017, BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BIED) organized a training session on “Substance Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Counseling Skill for Adolescents”. Conducted by Nahama Broner, Ph.D, Professor & Psychologist, New York University, U.S.A, the purpose of the training session was to develop the capacity for the members of BIED’s Center for Psychosocial Wellbeing (CfPW) in regards to understanding the effects and impact substance abuse. The session provided participants the opportunity to get a detailed knowledge about the different forms of substances and drugs available, their effect on the human brain & behavior, and diverse therapeutic techniques to treat substance abusers. Further, a curriculum for short courses on substance abuse, under the supervision of Nahama Broner, has been accomplished successfully.
