Brac University (BracU) is now thriving with excellence and it is high time to announce the adoption of ‘BracU 2.0’, a concept signifying a rapid drive towards internationalisation and a brand new vision and mission, said Vice Chancellor and President Professor Vincent Chang recently.
Being a top-ranking, leading private university in Bangladesh is not good enough, for which BracU has revamped its aspirations to turn into an international university, he told in a leadership town hall meeting in its Mohakhali campus on 1 August 2019. In the meeting, Prof. Chang shared BracU’s new vision, mission and goal with the heads of academic and administrative departments. He named this renovation as ‘BracU 2.0’, indicating new beginning of BracU.
His brainchild ‘BracU 2.0’ replaced the previous vision and mission of BracU. It includes new visions; proud, global institution of Bangladesh and Bangladesh’s Flagship University. To achieve this vision; BracU’s mission will be fostering knowledge creation, upholding human values and promoting sustainable development.
International capability, student experience and impact are core mandates in this journey. Attracting global partnership and encouraging flow of new ideas will discover every students true potential.
He added that every policy of BracU should be student centric because they are the people to represent BracU globally. He announced that internship with Brac NGO will be mandatory for BracU graduates so that they can understand more about humanity.
Prof. Chang’s vision has already been appreciated by international entities like Global Business School Network, Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens and Harvard University. These appreciations are about to open a new horizon of opportunities for the students and faculties, such as international internship, research funding, student exchange and other collaborations.
To support his goal for next four years, Prof. Chang also created posts of Vice President international, Associate Vice President for Student Life and Associate Vice President for Impact which are unique in higher education in Bangladesh.
