Dr Charles Chen Yidan, founder of Yidan Prize Foundation and co-founder of Tencent, visited Brac University (BU) on 23 January, 2020. The foundation aims to create a better world through education. Dr Yidan and his delegation were received by Brac University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang.
During the meeting with Dr Yidan and his delegation at the BU premises, Professor Chang expressed his commitment to internationalisation, providing students unique experiences and internships. It is now mandatory for BU students to do internships at Brac. Professor Chang also expressed his commitment to give the students a different student life experience. The meeting concluded with hopes for future collaborations. Dr Yidan thanked Professor Chang for facilitating the engagement.
Dr Yidan was in Dhaka to personally hand over the prestigious Yidan Prize for Education Development. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed was declared as the recipient of the prize in September 2019 for his ground breaking work on education. He passed away on 20 December, 2019. Tamara Abed and Shameran Abed, children of Sir Abed, received the award at BRAC head office in Dhaka last week.
