Dr. Seema, Sarkar, Associate Professor in English from Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, University of Lucknow, will be the guest discussant of the session. The webinar attempts to bring two scholars from Bangladesh and India together to highlight various aspects of Tagore’s selected plays that carried a shadow of Shakespeare’s writing style.

Abstract
Both William Shakespeare (1564-1616) and Rabindranath Tagore are eternal legacies for academicians and delicacies for the lovers of literature. Shakespeare has long been presiding over the world stage and influenced almost all the great successors. Tagore is no exception in this regard as many of his plays reveal themes and devices introduced by the Bard. In this talk, the speaker will show the influence of Shakespeare’s plays on selected plays (particularly Chitrangada, Shesh Rakkha and Chirokumar Sabha) of Tagore and compare between the two great masters of theatre.
Nahid Kaiser
Nahid Kaiser is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Daffodil International University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She completed her Hons. and Masters in English Literature at the Dept. of English, University of Dhaka. Now she is pursuing PhD on Women in Tagore’s Fiction at the same institution. Her specialized areas are drama, poetry, literary criticism, feminism. She has published 17 research articles and book chapters in national and international journals. She is a bilingual poet and translator by passion and has three books of poetry published from Bangladesh and India.
Dr. Seema Sarkar
Dr. Seema Sakar is an Associate Professor in English at Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, University of Lucknow. Her specialisation is in American Literature. She has taught postgraduate students for the last 20 years and chaired various sessions on national and international conferences. In January 2020, she served as the coordinator of a National Seminar on Vivekananda. Her research interests include Literature and Gender, SAARC Literature and Indian Literature in Translation.
