Brac University hosted a meeting between the Vice-Chancellor and the principals of some of the top schools and colleges of Dhaka on 21st March, 2021. This ‘Appreciation Gathering’ shared the goals and recent developments of Brac University and initiated a long-term alliance with the top schools and colleges that send a significant number of bright students to Brac University.
Principals and representatives from Dhaka College, Notre Dame College, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Adamjee Cantonment College, Dhaka Commerce College, Dhaka City College, Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls' College, Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College, Bir Shreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College attended. From Brac University, Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang, Dr David Dowland, Registrar, Professor Fuad H. Mallick, Dean, School of Architecture and Design and Mr. Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Director of Communications were present.
Dr David Dowland shared an overview of the university through a presentation. He covered several important features and activities of the University, including the new mission and vision, student experience, scholarships, internationalization and alumni outcomes. Professor Fuad H. Mallick introduced the university’s new permanent campus which is under construction at Merul badda.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang expressed his gratitude to the guests for attending this meeting. Professor Chang shared his willingness to develop a strong relationship with the institutions to help better shape education for the students.
“We need to teach the students how to look at themselves, how to look at their relationship with society and the whole world,” said Professor Chang. The result of changes in perception won't be visible overnight. The changes we make today may take many years to bring results but we must educate students from the early years. There should be an international mindset and curriculum to achieve excellence and global recognition. Colleges have a vital role in the early years, preparing students for higher study and careers’ Professor Chang added.
The principals very much appreciated this event and thanked Brac University for the warm invitation. They also invited Brac University authority to visit their respective institutions in future. " We are very keen to visit your institutions and meet the students, teachers and parents and exchange views on higher education" said Professor Chang in response.
