High hopes are on Bangladesh’s stock market, thanks to changes brought about in the regulator’s leadership and policy support from Bangladesh Bank. Even the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has done little to subdue rising investor confidence.
Against this backdrop, two opinion pieces on the investment opportunities on stocks listed in Dhaka Stock Exchange have been published by the Capital Market Research Center of the newly established Research and Professional Development Centers (RPDCs) of Brac Business School.
“Does Value Investment Strategy Work in Dhaka Stock Exchange?” analyses a profit opportunity for investing in a portfolio of lower price-to-earnings ratio stocks, and “Abnormal Profit Opportunity by Investing in Small Firms” analyzes a profit opportunity for investing in a portfolio of small capital-based firms. Both investment strategies do not require sophisticated knowledge of valuation but are empirically proven investment strategies widely subscribed by individual investors and market professionals.
“Investment beginners may worry about the volatilities of the capital market although substantial profit opportunities exist in the stock market nowadays. As a starting point, individual investors may consider these two simple strategies to experience the capital market investments and enjoy the high growth Bangladesh economy,” says Dean of the Business School Dr Sang Lee.
Capital Market Research Center of the RPDCs is scheduled to produce regular market opinions related to the Dhaka Stock Exchange, various market surveys and useful market data for students and faculty research.
