BRAC University participated in a two day conference titled ‘International Conference on Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond (IC4IR)’ on 10 & 11 December, 2021. The conference was organized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh to commemorate the 100th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabhandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The university also participated in an exhibition as a part of this conference. ‘Duburi’, an autonomous underwater vehicle developed by BRAC University students, was enlisted as one of the best projects in this exhibition.
Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister, Ministry of Education, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister, Ministry of ICT, Mr. Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minster, Ministry of Education, Professor Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman, University Grants Commission along with other government officials visited BRAC University’s stall in the exhibition and highly praised the university's positive work. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister, Ministry of ICT, praised and mentioned the name of BRAC University and its projects in his speech during the conference.
In this conference, Prof Vincent Chang, Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University chaired a session titled ‘Exit vs. Voice’. Keynote speech in this session was presented by Nobel Laureate in Economics - Professor Oliver D. Hart, Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor Department of Economics, Harvard University, USA.
Professor Vincent Chang along with Professor Charalabos Doumanidis, Vice President, Research, BRAC University, Professor Arshad M. Chowdhury, Dean of the School of Engineering, BRAC University and Dr. Dave Dowland, Registrar also presented a paper in this conference titled ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution: Shaping the New Bangladesh’.
