Durdana Mahin Priom is a newly appointed Lecturer in the Microbiology Program of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of BRAC University from January, 2024. Before joining BRAC University, she worked as a Research Fellow in Virology Laboratory, Infectious Diseases Division, icddr,b.
Durdana Mahin Priom completed her school and college from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. She graduated from Microbiology, University of Dhaka securing Third position, in 2020 and completed M.S., securing First position in Microbiology from the same institution in 2021. Her thesis was about a Comprehensive Study on Bacterial Strains Isolated from Buriganga River Sediment for the Biodegradation of Synthetic Dyes and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons. Along with this, she was involved in multiple projects on assessing Prevalence of Multidrug Resistant Gram-Negative Clinical pathogens along with whole genome sequencing analysis and microRNA expression analysis of COVID-19 patients.
From her early years to university, she has participated in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. As a dedicated member of the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists, she organized numerous scientific conferences, competitions, and cultural events.
Her goal is to inspire students while adding value to life science research through her innovative research ideas and engaging teaching style.
