BRAC University organised the second edition of “BRAC University Insider-Shape your future with BRAC University” on its official Facebook page on 20 November 2021. The programme promotes relevant aspects of BRAC University and encourages prospective students to try to find a place here. This time the programme focused on the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the broader student experience. It was attended by a distinguished panel from BRAC University, including Dr. Dave Dowland, Registrar, Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick, Dean, the School of Architecture and Design, Professor Arshad M Chowdhury, Dean, the School of Engineering, and Dr. Sadia Hamid Kazi, Chairperson, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Razin Bin Issa, an alumnus from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Nuhash Humayun, a student of the Department of English and Humanities, also attended the program. Mr. Anisul Haque, prominent writer and associate editor of Prothom Alo, attended the program as a special guest.
Dr David Dowland gave an overview of the university’s unique achievements, special aspects and student experience. He said, “We want to help our students develop the skills to cope with what’s often referred to as the 4th Industrial Revolution. So they have to learn to improvise. They have to learn think critically, creatively and resourcefully to work effectively with others.” “We want them (our students) to become the graduates that employers want but we also want them to have fulfilling lives and to be of services to others and to themselves and their families,” said the Registrar.
Anisul Haque said the younger generation of Bangladesh is more focused and involved with the world around them compared to previous generations. He said, “Our young people are more up to date in terms of knowledge and information. Even the youngsters from Teknaf, Tetulia are able to stay involved with the world, they are competing with the whole world. They look to the skies and the world.”
“BRAC University is making great leaders. We all have that wax and wick, all we need is that spark. This is what BRAC University is doing. I believe we will not play for a win, not give exams to pass, but love the subject, love the work, love life. Success will come automatically,” said Anisul Haque.
Professor Arshad M Chowdhury and Dr. Sadia Hamid Kazi highlighted the importance of computer science and engineering in the current job market. Razin Bin Issa and Nuhash Humayun shared their experience studying at BRAC University. The session was moderated by Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick.
