The Department of Pharmacy, BRAC University with the help of BUPS (BRAC University Pharma Soceity) has organized an awareness program on Hepatitis B with GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Limited on the 21st of October, 2014 at the BRACU Auditorium. Dr. Mohammad Mahmudul Kabir, Marketing Manager, Vaccine, GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Limited was the speaker at the seminar. The objective of the program was to spread awareness about Hepatitis B, the silent killer which has become a major global health problem and is affecting the people of Bangladesh as well. Hepatitis B is a serious liver disease caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV). One-third of the world population has been infected with HBV. Thus, effective education, screening, and vaccination are necessary to stop this silent hepatitis B epidemic.
Mr. Imon Rahman, Lecturer of Department of Pharmacy, BRAC University was the facilitator of the seminar. All faculty members and students were present at the seminar and the seminar ended with a ‘Question and Answer’ session. Dr. Eva Rahman Kabir, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy concluded the seminar with a vote of thanks to the speaker, university authority, all faculty members, staffs and students who made this seminar a ‘success’.
