Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BRAC University visited Chungbuk National University. Dr. Aniqua Nusrat Zareen, Assistant Professor of BRAC University also joined this visit as a Visiting Scholar along with two other recent graduate students. Chungbuk National University is one of the ten flagship government universities in South Korea.
Dr. Ashraful conducted a seminar on "3-D Reconstruction and Recognition,” on 26 February 2024 at the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Chungbuk National University, South Korea. He discussed 3D image processing, face detection technology and 3D tiling methods and ongoing projects in the CVIS lab.
Dr. Aniqua Nusrat Zareen talked about the Computer Science and Engineering Department of BRAC University elaborately. She has expressed the research collaboration scope of ongoing research of OIP (Optical Information Processing) lab and BRAC University.
Two graduate students from BRAC University, Jobeda Khanam Ria and Sadman Majumder associated with CVIS (Computer Vision and Intelligent System) lab also attended the seminar. An alumnus, Sakib Mahmud Dipto, currently working as a lecturer of ULAB and graduate from BRAC university, also participated in this visit. They gained hands-on research experience in the OIP lab of Chungbuk National University.
Prof. Nam Kim, Professor and Director of OIP Lab, Department of Information and Communication Engineering had invited Dr. Alam and his team for the visit. He showed his interest in collaboration and an official MOU between two universities.
The initial meeting was held with Dr. Ki Seok Choi, General Manager, Office of International Affairs and Yaonna Cho, Team Lead, International Relations Office of International Services. At the heart of this groundbreaking discussion was the shared vision between the two institutions to bridge academic and cultural divides, encouraging a global exchange of knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Ashraf and Dr. Aniqua, representing BRAC University, outlined an roadmap for collaboration, emphasizing the mutual benefits of both student and faculty exchange programs. Such initiatives are not just academic opportunities but are a testament to the commitment of both institutions to cultivating a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultural values.
The proposed collaborations aim to offer students and faculty from both institutions a platform for immersive learning experiences, enhancing their global perspectives and research capabilities. Dr. Ki Seok Choi and Yaonna Cho expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership, recognizing the potential it holds for setting new benchmarks in international education standards.
