BRAC University (BRACU) on Wednesday, 21 February 2018, paid homage to the Language Movement martyrs bringing out a procession and placing a wreath at the altar at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
Organised by the Office of Co-Curricular Activities, the procession started from the BRACU Mohakhali campus and went round the Wireless Gate intersection before coming to a close in front of BRAC Centre Inn around 8:00 am.
BRAC University Treasurer and acting registrar Shib Narayan Kairy, senior teachers, students and staff brought out a procession from the university’s Mohakhali campus in Dhaka on Wednesday, 21 February 2018, paying homage to Language Movement martyrs.
Treasurer and acting registrar Shib Narayan Kairy, senior teachers, students and staff then went to the Central Shaheed Minar to pay respects to those who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of Bangla as a state language on that very day 66 years ago.
With Bangladesh, 193 countries across the globe observed the day as Unesco declared it International Mother Language Day in 1999.
