Two students of BS in microbiology program defended their theses on 26 August, 2015 in Room UB 21511 of the MNS Department. Shoaib Adnan presented his work entitled “Antibacterial Resistance: A Comparative Study between Clinical and Environmental Isolates Based on Whole Cell Protein Profiling by SDS-PAGE’ done under the guidance of Ms. Fahareen-Binta-Mosharraf. He observed in SDS-PAGE a new protein band in multidrug resistant isolate. The second presentation was given by Aneeka Nawar Fatema and the title of her work was “A Comparative Analysis on Antibiotic Resistance Pattern in Environmental and Clinical Bacterial Isolates Based on Whole Cell Protein Profiling by SDS-PAGE.” The work was carried out under the supervision of Ms. Fahareen-Binta-Mosharraf. She found a new protein band in the multidrug resistant bacteria which was absent in sensitive isolate. The third presentation was given by Mohammad Al Mahmud-Un-Nabi. He worked under the joint supervision of Dr. Md. Kaiissar Mannoor of ideSHi and Dr. M. Mahboob Hossain. The title of his work was “Study of the Antimicrobial Activity of the Bark Extract of Cinnamimum verum Multidrug Resistant Klebsellia pneumonia and Enterobacter agglomerans”. He could determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of the extract against multidrug resistant strains.
The Viva-Voce Examination was chaired by Professor A. A. Z. Ahmad and attended by Dr. M. Mahboob Hossain, Ms. Jebunnesa Chowdhury and Ms. Fahareen-Binta-Mosharraf. The Examination Committee appreciated the quality of research work of all the students.
