Pollibir Unnayan Sangstha (PUS), in its effort to study if the Korean rural development model Saemuel Undong Movement (SUM) can be usefully and effectively adapted to Bangladesh, organized the symposium titled “Comparative Analysis Of South Korean And Bangladesh Rural Development Experiences” in collaboration with Euro-Asian Centre for Policy Studies and Management (Erusma), Rome, Italy, FAO-Korea association, Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) and Global Agricultural Policy Institute (GAPI), Seoul, South Korea. C3ER support the Pollibir Unnayan Sangstha to organize the workshop. This symposium was held on 5th March, 2016 at BRAC Center for Development Management (BRAC-CDM), Savar, Dhaka. In this conference, Mr. A. S. Moniruzzaman Khan, Director (in-charge) & Asst. Professor of C3ER, BRAC University; gave a presentation on “Proposal for Adaptation of the Korean Model in Bangladesh”. Moreover, the symposium was designed to bring to the attention of the country’s policy makers, development planners and administrators South Korea’s experience with rural development and provide key stakeholders of rural development in both countries a platform to share their knowledge and experiences. The program was started with the opening remark of the Chief Guest Mr. Shamsul Alam, Momber, GED, Planning Commission. Mr. Md, Hemayet Hussain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government Of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Dr. Sang Mu LEE, President, Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), Republic of Korea, Prof. Byung Ki LEE, Hyupsung University, Republic of Korea, Dr. Atiqur Rahman, Former Lead Strategist and Policy Coordinator, IFAD, etc. were also present. From C3ER, Ms. Roufa Khanum (Lecturer & Coordinator), Mr. Asif Rahman (Sr. Lecturer), Ms. Sharmin Nahar Nipa (Lecturer), Ms. Naznin Nasir (Research Associate), Ms. Ibrat Sharif (Research Associate), Ms. Rebecca Sultana (Research Assistant), Ms. Sharmin Tabassum Adity (Research Assistant), Ms. Tanisha Momtaz (Research Assistant), Ms. Maliha Tabassum (Intern), Ms. Nabila Haque (Intern) also attended the symposium.
