BRAC University is currently involved in an international joint collaborative research project with seven European and eight Asian university partners. This ASCENT (Advancing Skill Creation to ENhance Transformation) project is funded by co-funded by an EU Erasmus+ programme grant. Sharmin Nahar Nipa, Lecturer of Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University participated in the International Training Workshop at Phitsanulok on 22 - 24 November 2017. This event is jointly organized by the ASCENT project's Thailand partners, Naresuan University and Chiang Mai University. In the technical sessions, ten sessions on different themes, i.e. international research grant opportunities, international collaboration and teaching, critical thinking and creativity, etc. were facilitated by the resource persons from different programme countries (Europe). These sessions will help the participants to develop research infrastructure and undertake innovative, multi- and inter-disciplinary research. Moreover, the participants also attended a field visit to observe the adaptation strategies (use of BIG BAG and Gabion Box, construction of protection wall, use of concrete barrier, etc.) taken by the municipality to fight with the flood event.
