A capacity development training as a learning activity for the government officials was organized by International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) from 9-13 October in Mumbai, India. The training session was hosted by the NABARD Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. The team consisting participants from CFTM partners participated in this institutional visit in Mumbai & Delhi on “Green fund Processes and Implementation” to NABARD Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd, India along with the government officials. Mr. Md. Rezwan Siddiqui, Environmental Management Specialist and Ms. Subarna Ershad, Environmental Economist from Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University participated in the training program.
The objective of this activity was capacity development for Govt. officials to understand how to enhance readiness for the Government of Bangladesh to access international climate funds. The key issues covered in this training were:
This learning activity provided solid evidence based knowledge for the government officials as well as the CFTM partners which would help to achieve Output 4.
First day of the training included Meeting with NABARD senior officials and experience sharing sessions. The second day had also experience sharing sessions. The third day had a field trip. Participants got the chance to visit projects sites in Gauhar, Maharashtra. The whole session of the fourth day was an interactive session with the NABARD officials. Meeting between NDAs in Delhi, India was the most important part of the training and the agenda of the last day.
The overall learning from the visit was satisfactory. Key strategy and common challenges were identified and coping mechanism was learned from the sessions. Roles and responsibilities of the NIE were outlined. The field trip provided practical knowledge on the project management.
During the field visit in Palghar, team Bangladesh had an observation-there is lack of proper nutrition and health facilities in the tribal community. Team Bangladesh recommended these issues that need to be taken care of by the Indian authorities. Moreover, exchange program has been proposed from the delegates of Bangladesh. From Bangladesh perspective, it was a very effective session for the NDA as well as for the NIEs of GCF. The visit enhanced the knowledge of the participants that will complement the previous experience to go further more.
