C3ER conducted a field visit with BRAC beneficiaries in the Komen affected areas in Cox’s Bazaar for a rapid assessment of the post-disaster situation. The duration of the visit was five days from 5 August 2015 to 10th August. The C3ER team covered three Upazilas -Kutubdia, Maheshkhali and Teknaf of the affected district. The assessment was done with the ultra poor women who were the grant holders under a project that had been undertaken by BRAC, with the help of the Norwegian Government and in collaboration with the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) and UN Women named ‘Alternative livelihood options for Climate Change Vulnerable Women Group’. The aim of this visit was to understand and analyze the post-disaster situation of the ultra poor women along with initiative and practices taken as disaster preparedness by the grant holders. The team interviewed a total number of 29 BRAC beneficiaries and some other from the local community. Based on interviews, Post disaster situation analysis report and livelihood calendar were created for the Komen affected areas of Cox’s Bazaar.
