The Career Services Office (CSO), BRAC University has been striving to promote the idea of the Community Service Internship Program (CSIP) among the students of BRAC University to encourage civic responsibility and promote personal growth and self esteem among students while making a genuine social contribution. In order to foster the development of the CSIP, the CSO seeks long term partnerships with relevant organizations. We are delighted to announce that a formal MoU has been signed between BRAC University’s CSO and VSO Bangladesh.
The signing ceremony between BRAC University and VSO Bangladesh was held on 21st October, 2014 at the office premises of VSO Bangladesh. Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Bangladesh is one of the world’s leading independent international development organizations that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. The agreement was signed by Mr. Khan A. N. Murshid, Director, CSO and Mr. Khondoker Mohammad Saifullah, Operations Manager, VSO Bangladesh.
Under this MoU, the two entities agreed to cooperate in the development of an Internship Program. It was agreed that interns are to be selected thrice a year following a strict process of evaluation and screening. VSO Bangladesh will recruit selected students for a period of 3 months (renewable). The interns will be provided with training and remuneration.
The MOU commences and takes effect from the signing date and shall continue for 5 (Five) years though it can be extended by both parties mutual consent. The MOU is aimed to promote internship/employment opportunities at VSO Bangladesh for BRAC University students and to create synergy between BRAC University and VSO Bangladesh in the context of promoting both voluntarism as well as community service.
Members of both the CSO and VSO Bangladesh were present at the event namely Mr. Kazi Shahnoor Kabir, Executive CSO, Ms. Shanzida Shahab Uddin, Executive CSO, Ms. Asma Faria, Officer CSO, from the CSO, BRAC University; and Mr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Partnership & Grants Manager, Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Project Manager of Women and Youth Entrepreneur Development from VSO Bangladesh.
