The 'clean-up' work at the National Martyrs Memorial by the residential students of BRACU, Savar campus, on 11 March 2016 was a great success. Director of OCSAR, BRACU, Mr. Shafaat Bari Ivan, inaugurated the program.
A group of 57 students participated in the program to clean the surroundings of the site. Students were divided into four groups and they cleaned up four different locations of the National Memorial. Through this event, our students became further inspired to carry out their social responsibilities as the conscious citizens of the country.
The main objective of the event is to make students realize the spirit of patriotism and develop a sense of pride so that they can take initiatives to do something for their own country. Interestingly, the visitors who were present during the cleanup activity were also moved by the noble initiative and even encouraged their children to practice such patriotic actions.
In his motivating closing remarks, Mr. Ivan advised students to advocate such noble actions. Mr. Rehan Ahmed, Campus Superintendent of BRACU Savar Campus, representatives of OCSAR, and members of Professional Development Centre (PDC) were present to work with the students to clean up the historical site.
