The Closing and Certificate Award Ceremony of the above mentioned training course was held on 17 August, 2015 at 5 pm at the Auditorium of the Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka. Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was the Chief Guest at the function presided over by Professor Dr. A.A.Z. Ahmad, Chairman, NOAMI. The Ministry of Science and Technology, GOB provided the financial assistance for arranging this training course which comprised 98 lectures covering different aspects of oceanography. The twenty-one participants in the course went for sea and field trips as well. Thirty resource persons delivered the lectures. The resource persons were drawn from different R/D organisations and universities of the country. The welcome address was given by Dr. D.A. Quadir, Vice - Chairman of NOAMI. The Chief Guest then awarded the certificates to the participants. In his speech, Professor Abdul Mannan while lauding the role of NOAMI for the promotion of oceanic sciences in the country congratulated the participants for their successful completion of the course. One of the participants, Mr. Mosharraf Hossain of the Office of Survey of Bangladesh (SOB), spoke on behalf of the trainees. Professor A.A.Z. Ahmad in his presidential address talked about the various activities of NOAMI since its inception in 1978. He said that the first training course was arranged by NOAMI in 2003. He thanked Professor Abdul Mannan to spare his time to grace this occasion. Professor Ahmad also thanked the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for their continued support. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from Professor M.A. Karim, Joint Secretary, NOAMI. A dinner was arranged in a local restaurant where the participants, resource persons and NOAMI members were present.
