Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus; BRAC University is conferred the Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen Gold Medal for his contribution in the multiple sectors (water, climate change, policy and governance) of Bangladesh for more than three decades. The award is given by the renowned organization Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen Research Society, India. The award giving ceremony held on 23 July 2016 in the celebration programme of the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Dinesh Chandra Sen at Abanindra Sabhagriha, Charukala Bhavan, India. Dr. Sanat Kumar Naskar, Professor, Calcutta University Chaired the Ceremony along with the renowned researcher and scientist Dr. Arup Mitra as the special guest and many other distinguished guests embraced this occasion. Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen was one of the few literary figures and researchers in the realm of Bangla literature which set a trend by reviving the rich folkloric heritage of this region. His ineffable contribution in drawing on folktales, fables, riddles and ballads in his books Mymensingho Geetika and Purbabanga Geetika opened new horizons. In memory of this virtuoso, the research society is an association that honours greatest persons of the society for their contribution every year.
