Prof. Kabir at the opening of the session
On 25th March 2024, the Bangladesh Genocide Remembrance Day, Dr Nahid Afrose Kabir, Professor of History at the Department of English and Humanities (ENH) delivered a talk titled, "Remembering the 1971 Genocide in Bangladesh" hosted by ENH History Club. The event was attended by David Dowland, registrar of BRAC University, faculty members and students of BRAC university and some other eminent guests.
Professor Kabir presented the paper based on the interviews of her relatives who had faced the atrocities of 25th March 1971. After describing the experience of the participants, she brought in the contemporary events happening in Gaza and mentioned how ethnic cleansing had taken place on that day in Bangladesh and at present in Palestine.
