Oikos Dhaka in collaboration with BRACU film club screened a short documentary "Dushomoy: a mother's lament" by Yasmine Kabir on March 14 2007. A Mother's lament recounts the tragedy of Shima Choudhury, a young garment factory worker picked up by the police while traveling, gang raped and died under mysterious circumstances at "safe custody" in prison. After the screening a discussion was held between faculties and students about the various women's issues including sexual harassment, violence against women, classes and inequalities, women's rights, and gender and culture in Bangladesh.
