While maintaining strict social distance and all safety measures, Vice-Chancellor Professor Chang held the first town hall meeting with Brac University students on 20 December, 2020. A handful of students were invited to speak as representatives of the student body.
The students talked about their experiences going online and touched on pressing matters. The Vice-Chancellor ensured them that the university is determined to provide a wholesome student-centric experience, even during the university closure.
He started a lively discussion, in which the students shared insights into how they manage classes with the online learning platform buX. Students and faculty both are adjusting to virtual education. Prof. Chang said that “The world has changed, so has education. We are not going back to normal. We will keep buX as a core capability at Brac University.”
The Vice-Chancellor responded accordingly to all questions and remarks. He told the students that “all voices are being heard” and even though he can’t reply to all emails he receives, he does read them and takes them into consideration. Several items, like the engagement with alumni, a career development unit and more, are on his agenda.
The students were curious about future plans and shared valuable input in how they would like to see Brac University evolve as an international university of high standard.
He closed the discussion by thanking everyone for coming and reminded the students that even though change takes time, they will benefit from it, even after they graduate as alumni of Brac University 2.0.
