C3ER, BRAC University arranged a meeting with French Ambassador H.E. Mr. Philippe ZELLER; French Embassy Climate Change focal persons and other people from different Climate Change Organizations on 25 July, 2015 at GDLN Building, BRAC University. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus, BRAC University. The presentation was followed by an open-ended discussion by the participants. It was a 2 hours’ meeting where Dr. Nishat presented the overview of Climate Change issues and access to safe drinking water in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. In his presentation, Dr. Nishat highlighted the fact that there is a lack of fresh water in the southern part of Bangladesh and also the various options available for collecting clean water in those areas. Other issues discussed in the meeting include Role of governance in climate Induced Migration; 3-degree change; LCD fund; Solutions to solve climate change issues; Upcoming Paris treaty and so on. At the end of the meeting, everyone agreed to think about mitigating and adapting these impacts of climate change altogether. Considering the present situation, Bangladesh needs short-term solution to solve climate change rather than long-term.
