BRAC University (BRACU) continues with its exciting first year advising program for the fresher of Summer 2017. As a part of the Freshman Orientation program, new students met with their First Year Advising Team (FYAT) during the FYAT Day on May 03, 2017. Each FYAT group comprises of a faculty adviser and student peer mentor who provide individual and group advising to support new students, monitor their academic needs and performance, and guide academic planning during their first year at BRACU.
The fun-filled day, entirely ran by students of BRACU, started with the inaugural speech by Dr. Ansar Ahmed, on the first year experience, academic expectations and campus learning and advising resources at BRACU. Ms. Farina Haque faculty member from BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) briefed on Speaking Activity. Mr. Kazi Shahnoor Kabir gave a presentation on OCSAR and Mr. Ipshit Tarfdar gave presentation on OCA. This was followed by a brief speech on the FYAT activities by Md. Solaiman Jony, FYAT Coordinator. Video and student presentations were shown to the fresher on various student services and campus resources. The program ended with a raucous program (e.g. singing, dancing and drama) performed by the senior students of BRACU. Total 550 fresher students attended the FYAT day including faculty members, student mentors and student volunteers.
