IEEE BRAC University Student Branch Editor, Anika Iqbal and General Student Body member, Nafisa Nowshin Ahmed, represented the IEEE Student Branch of BRAC UNIVERSITY IEEE R10 SAC Chair, Counselors and Mentors Meet 2016. It took place on a Friday afternoon at the ECE Building of BUET on the 7th of October 2016. The program was organized to bring all the student branches of Bangladesh under one roof to discuss and monitor the progress of IEEE in the country. IEEE Bangladesh Section has been the initiator to make the event a success along with the host institute, BUET. Networking sessions were provided for each student with the experienced professors and executives of all the IEEE Sections in the country. Moreover, volunteers were chosen from other universities, both public and private to facilitate the event as much as possible. The program was scheduled to start from 2:30 pm after representatives from each university registered and were greeted with a timeline of the entire program in a binder along with a custom made IEEE pen, which definitely made the participants more excited about the whole program. After a warm welcome from the speakers from the Bangladesh section, the registered attendees from 23 universities gave a brief introduction about their background and their respective roles in their student branches. Various speakers from different universities gave their presentation through individual slide shows. This acted out to be one of the highlights as it helped the community to understand the projects going on in each branch, in depth. It provided a great platform for all the other branches to ask questions and get ideas about how and what kind of initiatives need to be taken in the university arena to promote IEEE. PCB and Pspice workshops were organized along with various inter and intra programming and robotics contests.
Overall, the whole event turned out to be a success as it definitely increased the connectivity among all the student branches to take more collaborative approaches!
