The Department of Pharmacy, BRAC University went to an industrial visit on 30th April, 2015 to Jirabo plant of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited. The visit involved 16 students along with three faculty members, Mahmud Traeq Ibn Morshed, Rezwana Nasrin Chowdhury and Ashis Kumar Podder. The visit started at around 10.30am with a presentation of Incepta Pharmaceuticals, the journey to becoming the second leading company of the country and an overview of the site with six building as six units. The students were then divided into two groups one group was guided by Mahmud Tareq Ibn Morshed and the other group was guided by Rezwana Nasrin Chowdhury and Ashis Kumar Podder. Both the groups visited the production site taking a look at tablet and capsule manufacturing and blister packaging. After that quality control building, the students looked around to get an overview of physical, chemical and microbiological control of pharmaceutical products with sophisticated machines like HPLC, UHPLC, IR, LC-MS-MS etc. Finally, the warehouse was visited to see how raw materials were sampled and dispensed. The visit ended with sumptuous lunch and feedback session with the Director of Technical Operation, Mr. Mahbubul Karim. Overall, the visit was a wonderful learning experience and outlook of how in future the students will have to carry out their responsibilities as pharmacist and serve the health sector.
