On 22nd December 2014 the OCSAR met with key organizations of the BRAC family with a view to generating collaborative work on the progression of BRAC University graduates in the professional world. The idea was to discuss and agree initiatives & interventions amongst ourselves that can facilitate employment opportunities of BRACU graduates whilst fulfilling the talent needs within BRAC entities. HR heads from BRAC Bank, BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage, BRAC ITS & BKASH joined the lunch meeting at BRAC Center. The meeting started at 12.30 PM, presided over by Mr. Khan A. N. Murshid; Director of OCSAR and continued for more than 2 hours. Discussions focused on how to strengthen the relationships between BRAC University and BRAC sister concerns.
The OCSAR put emphasis on identifying ongoing trends of the current job market and accurately assessing the talent requirement needs of employers. The OCSAR also asked for general assessment regarding BRACU graduates and their overall performances in the work arena as employees and interns within the BRAC family.
All heads and HR personnel who attended the meeting were enthusiastic and eager to build long term strong relations, particularly within the ‘family’. They proposed to continue such meetings, at least once each semester. They pointed out some specific sectors where joint initiatives can be taken. Director, OCSAR welcomed all of their suggestions and assured them of continuing such meetings in order to strengthen bilateral relationships.
Director OCSAR invited assembled HR heads to visit BRAC University and engage in lecture sessions with the students in the flagship PSDP programme.
It was decided that OCSAR and BRAC sister concerns will work hand in hand to encourage industry-academia collaboration. The OCSAR sought collaboration within the BRAC Family to tackle graduate unemployment and ensure the successful transition of graduating students into the world of work.
The genuine enthusiasm and support that was on display at this meeting gives OCSAR every reason to seek to create a robust ‘family platform’ within BRAC to meet the needs of our graduates as well as the personnel needs of our employing organizations; creating an unending virtuous cycle.
