Two students pursuing MS in Biotechnology presented their theses on 21 October 2014 at the MNS Multipurpose Room. Ms Shahana Choudhury presented her work entitled ‘Determination of an efficient regeneration protocol for Bangladeshi peanut varieties (Arachis hypigaea L.)’. Later Ms Fahima Akhter Mukta made a presentation on her research work. Title of her work was ‘Study of in vitro regeneration and transformation parameters for the development of transgenic tomato (Solamun lycopersicon L.)’. The research study was funded by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and USDA Endowment fund. Both the research studies were carried out under the guidance of Dr Aparna Islam at the Plant Biotechnology Lab, MNS Dept. The Viva-Voce Examination was chaired by Professor A. A. Ziauddin Ahmad and attended by Professor Naiyyum Choudhury and Dr. Aparna Islam. Professor Rakha Hari Sarker, University of Dhaka was the External Expert. The Examination Committee appreciated the quality of research work of both the students.
