On the 24th of October, 2016, Unilever organized the SCHOOL OF LEADERS, with support from OCSAR, and BRAC University Business Club (BIZ BEE), where the Unilever Future Leaders Program was showcased, along with its showpiece competition, BizMaestros. The seminar commenced with a few words from the respected advisor of BIZ BEE, Mr. Fairuz Chowdhury. Afterwards, Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukdar, Adviser of BRAC Business School, came up to the stage and spoke about how students become leaders, and the qualities required for leadership. Then came Ms. Ipshita Fahmin, Manager of Leadership Development at Unilever. She discussed about Unilever’s Management Trainee Program (Unilever Future Leaders Program), and how it is used to find the best candidates for the job, and how it prepares them for the future obstacles in the corporate world. Few interns who have studied at BRACU were also present. A video was showcased where graduates of the Unilever Future Leaders Program talk about the challenges and responsibilities of working at Unilever, and how they were thrust into big roles at a very early stage of their careers. Then BRAC University Alumnus Tonmoy Gupta, Assistant Brand Manager of Pureit took the floor. At first, he talked about his meteoric rise at Unilever, where he ended up being the Brand Manager of Pureit. He elaborated how Pureit, and other Unilever brands are intertwined with people’s lives. Afterwards Ipshita Fahmin took back the floor to talk about BizMaestros, the business competition where future graduates from universities across Bangladesh compete with each other, solving real life business cases. The winning team gets an opportunity to work at Unilever, and represent Unilever Bangladesh at the Unilever Future Leaders League, held in London. The 2016 winners were from Bangladesh, and Ipshita Fahmin urged the students to continue this legacy, and defend the title. Then the audience were shown a video on how Pureit is providing clean drinking water to villages across Bangladesh, where access to clean drinking water is limited.
The program ended with a Q&A session where students asked questions about BizMaestros, and the Unilever Future Leaders Program. On behalf of Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations (OCSAR), Ms. Samiha Nusrat coordinated the event.
