As a part of BRAC University’s commitment to academic standards and student success, the office of Student Affairs (OSA) runs a comprehensive Probation Advising and Student Support (PASS) program to provide both departmental and general academic support service to improve the retention of probation and at-risk students at BRAC University.
In January 2017, the result of the students, who attended the PASS program for Fall 2016, was collected from the USIS and analyzed accordingly. After analyzing the result it has been found that after attending PASS program (i.e. individual advising, group advising, tutorial sessions and PASS workshops) 63.04% last chance probation students successfully overcame academic probation. Moreover, in case of the first time probation 68.42% students survived from being into academic probation for two consecutive semesters.
Also, probation advisers of OSA collected the probation students list for Spring 2017 from Ms. Nazmus Sabeka, Sr. Assistant Registrar. The list was categorized according to first time probation and last chance probation. Total 138 students had fallen into first time academic probation and 71 students were approved for one more last chance to continue in Spring 2017 semester. 199 probation students (both first time and last chance category) reported to the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and filled in PASS contract form for unblocking their student ID. The students were advised by their respective probation advisers to attend individual advising sessions and tutorials in 100 level courses.
