In the month of August, Samin Huq, Teaching Assistant and a former student of Department of Pharmacy, BRAC University has recently participated in the 61st IPSF World Congress, Hydrabad, India. Samin is also the contact person of BUPS-Bangladesh for IPSF.
The congress was held in between July 30 to August 9, 2015. It was organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation and hosted by Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Students Forum. The Department of Pharmacy is extremely thankful to Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited for their sponsorship in this prestigious global event.
International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF) is the leading global organization of students of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical science for the advocacy in the field of public health, professional development and pharmacy education. At present, the organization represents about 3, 50,000 students across 85 countries worldwide. Along with this prestigious event, Samin has also taken a workshop entitled ‘TRIPSand Post 2015: Opportunities to improve access to medicine’ as chair and speaker on August 7, 2015. The workshop was attended by more than 20 participants of different countries worldwide which included France, Germany, United States, Japan and South Korea. The workshop was organized to emphasize the opportunities of TRIPS implementation over access to medicine and how the opportunities can be utilized to improve access to health across the globe. This is a complete honor for us as he is the first person from Bangladesh as well as from South Asia to achieve such recognition.
