The School of Law, BRAC University in collaboration with the student club BRAC University Law Society (BULS) organized “The 4th Intra Moot Court Competition” at School of Law’s Moot Court in its campus recently.
The Alumni of the School of Law, supported and conducted sessions as Judges of the preliminary and Semi-Final rounds. The Bench of Judges in the final round of the competition was comprised of Justice Mr. Md. Iqbal Kabir, Honorable Justice of the High Court Division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Mr. Abu Mohammad Amin Uddin, Honorable Attorney General, Office of the Attorney General, Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh and K. Shamsuddin Mahmood, Professor and Dean School of Law, BRAC University.
The purpose of the competition was to impart the law students with an opportunity to enhance their advocacy skills through a practical experience of speculating case facts and conferring oral submissions stating the respective arguments relating to issues before the judges.
The team Audi Alteram Partem that acquired the Championship position was comprised of Ms. Taskin Tanika and Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman Rabbi having Ms. Nowzin Khan, student, School of Law as their Coach, while Team Fortis, comprised of Ms. Zarin Anjum Oni and Mr. Siam Shafi coached by Ms. Toufika Jahan Shafi, another student, acquired the Runner-up position in the competition. The Best Memorial Award went to Mr. Md. Shadman Sakib Oyon and Ms. Sreoshi Karmakar from the team Devil's Advocate, which was coached by Arnab Bhattcharyya, student, School of Law. The award of Best Mooter went to Ms. Taskin Tanika from the team Audi Alteram Partem.
Mr. Ismet Morshed, Sr. Lecturer, School of Law and Advisor, BULS concluded the event with a vote of thanks. Mr. Ismat Morshed along with Ms. Sazeeda Johora Thakur, Sr. Lecturer, School of Law and Advisor, BULS coordinated the organization of the program.
