Life is a joyous journey. However, sometimes, in this fast pace of life, we often become restless to think about our future hope or dream, or away from things in our past. Sometimes, we may also forget to enjoy the joyous journey of life. In that case, Meditation, which is an art of living a peaceful life, can help to take a break for a while and pay attention to appreciate how precious life is.
With this awareness, the Counseling Unit of BRAC University hosted a session on “Meditation: A Piece of Peace” for the students, faculty members and staff of the Department of English and Humanities on Wednesday on July 19, 2017 from 3:30pm to 5:00pm in ENH Seminar Room. Two members from the Counseling Unit of BRAC University Ms. Monzia Mushtaq and Ms. Kazi Rumana Haque-Psychosocial Counselors and Lecturers conducted the session.
The session was started by practicing some yoga postures to help participants to feel more relaxed and at ease with their physical bodies. Then, Soham- a guided breathing exercise was conducted. Later on, a meditation session was held where; the facilitator first conducted a relaxation session followed by an imagery guided meditation to help participants to connect better with the inner self.
Through this short meditation journey, the participants got the unique opportunities to manage stress, anxiety, depression better, enhance concentration and awareness, as well as improve mental well-being.
